Are you a first time
buyer or new to shopping for printing? Here at MediaGP.com, we try to make shopping for printing easy. So if you have
any questions about printing such as paper stock, the coatings
and colors please read below before submitting your questions
to our staff.
Paper stock or
Paper thickness
Paper stock or paper
thickness is how thick the paper is. In printing we mainly
use to different types of measurements to measure the
paper thickness and those are called, point, and pound,
which is displayed by a '#' pound sign.
Club flyers, business
cards, and postcards are normally measured with the point
scale and usually is presented as 12pt for 12 point thickness.
FYI: Club
flyers, business cards, and postcards are 12pt. standard
with most print companies, MediaGP.com provides you with
14pt. standard thickness for what other companies charge
you for 10pt -12pt.
Brochures,
door hangers, posters, and catalog sheets are normally
measured with the other scale, called pound .There
isn't really a standard size for these materials you just
choose how thin or thick you want your paper.
Colors and Color
System
When it comes to printing
colors are broken down into 4 separate colors which can
be mixed to make any color and shade, except metallic and
clear coats. The way this system works is by numbers. If
you were searching for full color printing, such as MediaGP.com provides then you should be looking for the 4/4 sign.
4/4 means that there
are 4 colors on one side and 4 colors on the other side.
This doesn't mean you only get 4 colors like red, blue,
white, and black. This means that you have full color
such as the colorful photo posted below displays.

4/4 provides you with every
color except for metallic colors and clear coats on selective
areas.
FYI:
MediaGP.com provides you with full color printing for
more than 50% less than most other companies. To check
yourself here is a link to google.com page on a search for
"business cards". LINK
1/1 means that each side
only has one color. Below is a black and white replica
of the full color image displayed above to visually show
you what 1/1 is.

1/1 doesn't mean your stricken
to use only back and white but means that your stricken
to using only one color.
Why doesn't MediaGP.com
sell printing by the color as most printing competitors?
MediaGP.com sells full
color printing for what other companies charge for 1
color or black and white printing because extra colors
aren't costing us anything more to print so why should
it cost you?
